A Panama ron from a 1992 vintage, woody and warm with dried fruit, caramel and allspice over vanilla, column distilled from molasses at 40%, a mellow older Spanish-style pour with toasted oak and gentle spice.
Description
Malecon bottles this Seleccion Esplendida from Panama, drawn from a 1992 vintage and presented in the soft, blended Spanish style that the country's ron is known for. Panama is a major source of mature stock for independent and house bottlings alike, and this older expression leans on long oak contact for its depth.
Column distilled from molasses and bottled at 40%, it is woody and dried-fruit-led on the nose with caramel and allspice, then carries dried fruit, caramel, oak and vanilla across the palate. The finish stays woody with allspice, chocolate and a toasted edge. It reads mellow and gently sweet in the Panama manner, with the age showing as warm spice and dried fruit rather than heat. A relaxed, after-dinner sipper for drinkers who enjoy older, soft ron with a toasted oak character.
