An unaged Mauritian cane-juice white from Labourdonnais, selected by Rhum Chantal Comte, bright and oily with sugarcane, mango and pineapple over white pepper and citrus, agricole-style and dry at a punchy 49%.
Description
Rhum Chantal Comte Labourdonnais L'Arbre Du Voyageur Rhum Blanc is a Mauritian white rum distilled from fresh-pressed sugarcane juice, selected and bottled by the respected French house Rhum Chantal Comte. Mauritius sits outside the legal agricole appellation, so this is best described as agricole-style: same fresh-cane method, different geography.
Made from cane juice and bottled unaged, it leans into the freshness that defines the style, with an intense nose of sugarcane, mango and pineapple, then an oily, mouth-filling palate carrying white pepper and a green cane snap. The finish stays warm, spicy and citrus-edged, dry rather than sweet. At 49% the proof gives it real presence for a white rum, and that combination of tropical fruit and oily texture makes it a vivid, expressive base for a Ti Punch or a fresh citrus serve.
