Isautier L’Aventurier Rhum Vieux Traditionnel (LMDW) 2008

Isautier L'Aventurier is an aged Reunion rum selected for La Maison du Whisky from the 2008 vintage. Despite the island's agricole heritage, this expression is distilled from molasses on a column still, matured in ex-bourbon wood and bottled at a full 58%, so it reads as a traditional molasses vieux rather than a cane juice agricole.

The profile is dry and structured. Citrus, vanilla and a distinct floral lift open the nose, with thyme and warm spice behind it, then the palate turns woody and herbal before a long finish of allspice, dry tannin and lingering florals. That floral, gently medicinal signature is a Reunion hallmark, here framed by oak and high strength. A firm, spice forward sipper for experienced palates who enjoy drier aged rum with an aromatic, herbaceous streak.
