Worthy Park (Selected by Rum Stylez) WPL 2023

This distillery bottling, selected by Rum Stylez, is an unusual Worthy Park made from fresh sugar cane juice rather than molasses, marque WPL, distilled on pot still and presented unaged at cask strength 59%. Worthy Park is a single-estate St. Catherine distillery known for clean, precise pot still rum, and the cane-juice base gives this a bright, grassy character closer to an agricole than a typical Jamaican.

Unaged and at full proof, it noses on floral, overripe and medicinal notes with fresh sugarcane, then delivers sugarcane, overripe fruit, pineapple and banana on an oily, aromatic palate, the finish fruity and fresh with more cane and an oily texture. The fresh-cane base brings a lot of aroma and a noticeably sweet-tasting sugarcane note, even unaged. Unsweetened and bottled at cask strength, it shines in drinks where its vivid cane and fruit aromatics carry, a characterful, aromatic white for drinkers curious about Worthy Park working outside its usual molasses lane.
