Famille Ricci Divergence Number 2 is a pot still rum blend bottled by the French house Famille Ricci, unsweetened and at 55%, in the maker's adventurous, terroir led tradition of pairing contrasting origins. It leans into high ester funk, with a green, vibrant character that puts it well apart from soft, sweet rum.

The nose is funky and fresh, vegetal with a solvent edge, the palate carries ester, vegetal notes, citrus and an oily texture, and the finish is warm and dry with almond and more ester. Pot distillation and an absence of added sugar keep it lean and aromatic, letting the ripe, glue tinged esters and herbal cane notes lead. Drinkers describe two origins responding nicely to one another, with a Jamaican component lending pineapple funk without overwhelming the blend. The result is a dry, high ester white that rewards those who enjoy the funkier, more solvent driven end of rum and the contrasts a thoughtful blend can offer.
