Come Hell or High Water XO

Come Hell or High Water XO is a multi country molasses blend from bottler One Eyed Spirit, presented in the soft, sweet, spiced style that aims squarely at easy drinking. The nose is all vanilla, caramel and molasses, generous and dessert like.

Bottled at 40%, the palate runs brown sugar, caramel and baking spice with a round, sweet feel, before a short finish of wood, molasses and nougat. Added sugar is unstated, but the heavily sweetened character is plain in the glass. There is little going on underneath and the finish fades quickly, so this is comfort drinking rather than exploration, happiest as a sweet sipper over ice or in a mixed drink. Drinkers who enjoy sugary, vanilla heavy profiles will find it pleasant, while anyone moving toward dry, structured rum will likely move past it fast.
