A soft Martinique agricole from La Favorite at 42%, four years with a touch of cognac oak giving light sugar cane, citrus and stone fruit with mild spice, a gentle, accessible bridge into the cane juice style.
Description
La Favorite is a small family run distillery in Martinique, and Coeur de Canne is a gentle four year old agricole distilled from fresh pressed sugar cane on a creole column and bottled unsweetened at 42%. A measure of cognac cask influence rounds it off, making this one of the distillery's softer, more accessible expressions.
The profile stays light and easy, with sugar cane, citrus and stone fruit over mild spice and a subtle cognac oak warmth. It drinks smooth and creamy, the grassy agricole character present but restrained, before a woody, lightly spiced, cane tinged finish. There is none of the aggressive vegetal punch or high proof bite of a blanc here. It makes a friendly, approachable bridge into the agricole world for drinkers used to softer column aged rums, an easy neat sipper that still shows clear cane juice identity.
