A six year old single cask Worthy Park WPL from The Nectar, fruity and surprisingly soft with banana, pineapple and red berries over light wood, a clean step up in strength without the wild ester.
Description
Bottled by The Nectar in its Special Barrel Series, this is a single cask Worthy Park distilled in 2014 from the WPL marque, the estate's lighter, more restrained recipe. Worthy Park is a 100 percent pot still, single estate house in St. Catherine, and its double retort still gives clean, precise spirit with moderate ester rather than Trelawny scale funk.
Six years of ex-bourbon ageing have softened the spirit while keeping it bright, with banana, pineapple and red berries over light, young wood. The palate is fruity and dry with caramelised and black tea notes, and a finish that turns woody with hints of espresso and dried fruit. Bottled unsweetened at 56 percent, it is a clear, characterful Worthy Park that steps up the strength without jumping into the really wild end of the style.
