Neisson Rhum Vieux BIO (LMDW) 2016

Neisson is a small family distillery and a longtime favourite among agricole drinkers, and this organic vieux, a single cask bottled for La Maison du Whisky, captures its character at full strength. Drawn from fresh cane juice and matured three years in ex-bourbon, it qualifies as a vieux under the AOC and carries no added sugar.

Bottled at a vigorous 52.3% and aged under tropical conditions, it keeps the house DNA intact. The nose offers fresh red fruits, cherry and citrus over light wood, spice and chocolate, while the palate turns woody and spicy with chocolate and a fresh lift. The finish brings dark chocolate, vegetal cane, vanilla and red fruit. Youthful and intense yet well balanced, it shows more impetuous energy than Neisson's older vieux while staying true to form, a natural, characterful single cask best enjoyed neat.
