Aluna Coconut Rum

Aluna is a coconut flavoured rum built on a molasses base drawn from multiple distilleries and bottled at 37.5 percent. It belongs to the flavoured category, but stands out for a coconut character that reads as natural and fresh rather than sugary, which has earned it a place in cocktail bars.

The coconut leads from start to finish, with a fresh nose of coconut, white chocolate and vanilla, a creamy, fresh palate of coconut and a gentle sweetness, and a finish of coconut, cream, banana and vanilla. Crucially it stays only lightly sweet, with enough rum presence to hold up when mixed. Honest as a flavoured spirit rather than a dry sipper, it earns its keep in Pina Coladas, Daiquiris and Mojitos, where its creamy, natural coconut adds aroma and body without the cloying sweetness of many coconut rums.
