Dynasty L'Origine is Famille Ricci's most approachable release, a molasses blend drawing on five origins, aged seven years with time in ex-bourbon oak. At 40 percent it is built for comfort, an easy everyday pour rather than a study piece.

The profile is soft and gourmand: vanilla, caramel and honey with a pastry, almost Viennese sweetness, light dried fruit and gentle wood on the finish. This one is sweetened, so it reads rounder and more dessert-like than the drier bottlings in the range, and it makes no pretence otherwise. For drinkers coming from familiar soft brands and looking for a touch more fruit and oak without added heat or funk, it slots in neatly as a relaxed, undemanding sipper.
