A 13 year old single cask Trois Rivieres from the 2005 vintage at 42%, tropically aged to a fine balance of spice and sweetness, with orange, caramel, chocolate and ripe fruit over a wood spiced core.
Description
Trois Rivieres Single Cask 2005 is an aged agricole from Trois Rivieres, a heritage Martinique estate now distilled at the La Mauny site, working within the island's rum AOC. Distilled from fresh cane juice on a column still, this single cask matured for around thirteen years in ex-bourbon wood before bottling at 42%.
The extra age over the distillery's younger casks brings a darker, rounder profile. Oak, orange and ripe fruit lead the nose with a chocolate edge, and the palate carries spice, wood, caramel and citrus in fine balance, the sweetness from the cask sitting neatly against the spice. The result is a long, finely judged agricole that keeps its cane backbone under mature wood. A balanced, single cask Martinique rum for drinkers who like aged agricole with orange, cocoa and gentle spice, a satisfying neat pour.
