Romdeluxe Caribbean Blend – Selected Series N.4

RomDeluxe Caribbean Blend, Selected Series N.4, is a twelve year old island blend from the Danish bottler RomDeluxe, drawn from column still molasses rum across the Caribbean and bottled at a soft 42%. This is the house's more accessible Selected Series rather than the cask-strength Wild Series it is best known for, so the style here is gentle and easygoing.

The character is mellow and dessert-leaning. The nose offers light wood, a faint smoke and a fruity sweetness with a hint of coconut and caramel, while the palate turns oily and sweet with vanilla, caramel and brown sugar over a light woodiness. The finish stays sweet. It is a smooth, undemanding blend that suits relaxed sipping or a sweeter cocktail rather than serious analysis, the dark colour and soft sweetness pointing to an easy crowd-pleaser. A friendly, approachable bottle from a house with a wilder reputation elsewhere.
