A clean, unsweetened white from Botran, a Guatemalan column rum made from cane honey with vanilla, light fruit, gentle wood and a quirky anise twist, a smooth, slightly dry 40% mixer with a creamy finish.
Description
Botran Reserva Blanca is a Guatemalan white ron from Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala, made from sugar cane honey rather than molasses and column distilled in the lighter, unaged style. Bottled at 40% and listed as unsweetened, it is built as a clean, versatile white rum rather than a rich sipper.
The profile is light and gently expressive: caramel, a soft, toffee and oak nose, then caramel, a warm, slightly hot palate with orange peel, closing on a light, floral, warm finish. There is vanilla, light mango fruit, a touch of anise or licorice and gentle wood, with a dry, faintly creamy texture that sets it apart from sweeter whites. Drinkers mostly see it as a smooth, serviceable mixer or easy sipper rather than a standout sipper, the no added sugar profile and quirky anise note giving it more interest than a standard cocktail white. A clean, dry leaning utility rum with a little character of its own.
