Old Pascas White Rum

Old Pascas White is a budget Barbados molasses rum bottled at 37.5%, an unaged mixing spirit rather than an aged sipper. It carries no distillery attribution and sits at the value end of the island's output, far from the pot-and-column statements that built Barbados its reputation for balance.

Light and simple, it shows coconut and a little caramel on the nose, then a sweetish, fruity palate with a sharp alcoholic bite and a short, spirity finish. There is little oak influence and not much to dwell on, which is fair for a white rum made to disappear into a daiquiri, mojito or rum and cola. Honesty matters here, this is a functional cocktail base, easy on the wallet and unfussy in the glass, not a rum bought for contemplation.
