A 1991 vintage Martinique agricole from Neisson at 45.3%, dry, elegant and savoury with dried fruit, licorice, grass and orange leading into a saline, peach and oak finish.
Description
This 1991 is among the earliest Neisson vintages, a ten-year agricole from the small Le Carbet family estate. Made from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice on a column still and aged tropically in Martinique, it carries the dry, spice-forward maturity that marks well-aged AOC agricole, bottled at a gentle strength that lets the detail show.
Released at 45.3% and unsweetened, it noses on dried fruit, licorice, grass and orange, then takes a savoury turn on the palate with a distinct salty note alongside orange, peaches and licorice, finishing on oak, salt, sugar cane and stone fruit. The profile is dry and woody but kept in fine balance, no single element pushing too hard, with a saline, almost coastal character running underneath. An elegant, restrained older agricole for slow neat sipping, the sort of release that rewards attention and patience from drinkers who favour dry, complex cane spirit.
