Facundo Exquisito sits at the top of Bacardi's small-batch range, a Puerto Rican blend built from column-still molasses rum with components carrying a 24 year age statement and time in ex-bourbon oak. At 40 percent it stays deliberately soft, aimed squarely at unhurried neat sipping.

Expect vanilla, caramel, brown sugar and toffee threaded with a clear sherried note of dried fruit and raisin, all framed by plenty of mellow oak that grows woodier with air. It is a gentle, rounded style rather than a punchy one, and the long age shows more as polish and wood than as raw intensity. Those who like sweet, refined after-dinner rums, or who come to it from bourbon and sherried whisky, will find it an easy and comfortable pour.
