Dzama Vieux is a five year old rum from Madagascar, column-distilled and matured in ex-bourbon casks at an easy 40%. Madagascar's distinctive island rums are still a niche find, and Dzama is among the best-known names from the region.

The ex-bourbon ageing and column distillation point to a soft, rounded profile, and this one leans toward vanilla and chocolate with a light, gentle character. Expect an approachable, lightly sweet sipper rather than a heavy or funky rum, original and easygoing, well suited to relaxed neat drinking.
