Neisson Blanc

Neisson is a small family distillery founded in 1931 and a longstanding favourite among agricole drinkers. This blanc is pressed from fresh cane juice and bottled dry at 50%, distilled low on the column still to hold onto its green, vegetal backbone.

The house signature here runs grassy and bright: sugarcane, citrus, green apple and a touch of honey on the nose, then a palate of grass, honeyed cane and citrus with a brinier, more astringent edge than some of its neighbours. The finish carries grass, leather and an almost sake-like note. This is a characterful, dry blanc rather than a soft introductory one, and it tends to come alive in a Ti Punch or stirred cocktail, where its snap and saline grip do their best work, more than as a quiet neat pour.
