A barely-aged white rum from The Liquor Company at 38.4%, light and floral with fresh sugarcane and an agricole lean despite its molasses base, a soft, cocktail-minded blanco rather than a sipper.
Description
The Liquor Company bottled this Cuate Blanco Especial as a young white rum, just a year old at a low 38.4%. Although recorded as molasses-based, the glass reads with a surprisingly grassy, cane-forward character closer to an agricole, which sets it apart from the usual soft molasses blanco and gives it a fresher edge.
Lightly rested in ex-bourbon oak, it stays pale and delicate, with floral and tropical fruit on the nose and a palate of sugarcane and light agricole-style freshness carrying a touch of spirit warmth. There is little weight here by design. This is an unpretentious, easy-drinking white built for cocktails and highballs rather than neat sipping, and it is honest about being a young mixer, doing its best work with citrus and ice.
