Damoiseau Concordia

Damoiseau is the largest distillery in Guadeloupe and a big export name, and this Concordia is unusual in blending both molasses and fresh sugar-cane juice rather than working from cane juice alone. That split base sets it apart from a pure agricole, a rounder, more molasses-inflected take on the island style.

Column-distilled and matured in ex-bourbon oak, four years in cask give it a woody, spiced profile: raisin, spice and barrel on the nose, then grape, floral and woody notes across the palate, finishing on wood, passion fruit, raisin and dried fruit. The cane is present and the spirit reads almost sweet, though the youth shows in a slightly less integrated alcohol. At a soft 40% it stays easy and approachable, a pleasant, fairly priced everyday sipper rather than a serious aged statement.
