A 14 Year Old Venezuelan single cask from 2005, bottled unsweetened by Compagnie des Indes, offering vanilla, yellow fruits and baking spice with a mocha and dark chocolate finish, balanced and dry at 43%.
Description
This Venezuelan single cask comes from Compagnie des Indes, the terroir minded French house known for letting origin character speak through natural, undosed bottlings. Distilled from molasses on a column still at C.A.D.C and drawn from a 2005 vintage, it shows the smoother, dessert leaning side of Venezuelan ron but in a dry, honest single cask form rather than a sweetened blend.
The nose is inviting with vanilla, kiwi, yellow fruits and baking spice, leading to a round, balanced palate of vanilla and ripe yellow fruit. The finish turns more serious with mocha, ginger, tannin and dark chocolate, a reminder that fourteen years of ageing has added structure without heavy oak. Bottled at 43% and without added sugar, it makes an easy yet characterful sipper, a classic Latin American profile that suits a relaxed evening and rewards drinkers who like fruit and spice over syrup.
