CDI Enmore (Bottled for Denmark) 1990

Compagnie des Indes, the terroir led French house known for natural single casks, drew this 1990 Enmore for the Danish market in a strictly limited run. Enmore runs on the world's last operating wooden Coffey still, lighter and more elegant than the wooden pot marques but still distinctly woody. At twenty four years and full cask strength, this is a serious, unsweetened expression.

Distilled from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it noses on wood, smoke, citrus and esters, with chocolate and molasses underneath, then carries spice, citrus and a fresh edge across the palate before a finish of wood, spice, vegetal notes and caramel. At 58.1% it benefits from a small sip left to rest in the glass, where the fruit and zest open up. Bottled without sweetening at full proof, it shows the more vivid, citrus driven side of an aged continental Enmore, a characterful single cask from a respected bottler.
