Velier Bielle MG Rhum Vieux Agricole 2003

Bottled by Velier, the most respected name in collectible rum, this is a 9 year old Bielle from Marie-Galante, distilled from fresh pressed sugar cane and drawn from a 2003 vintage, presented at 49%. Where Bielle's blancs run high and raw, this aged expression is altogether softer and more rounded.

Matured in ex bourbon oak, it carries floral sugar cane, brown sugar and cinnamon on the nose, moving into vanilla, gentle oak, sweet spice and dried fruit on the palate, with a honeyed, allspice and yellow fruit finish. The whole thing is balanced and elegant, unexpectedly easygoing for the strength. It keeps clear Bielle character, the cane and floral notes intact, while staying relaxed and approachable, a graceful aged agricole for drinkers who want refinement without intensity.
