Neisson Tatanka Edition limitée Le Chai 2015

Neisson is a small family distillery on Martinique with a devoted following, and this Tatanka, a Le Chai limited edition single cask from the 2015 harvest, is a standout. Made from fresh pressed sugar cane juice and bottled at a natural 54.7%, it tastes far more mature than its young age suggests, a powerful yet balanced expression of the house.

Distilled on a column to keep the green cane character, then matured in oak whose influence shows clearly, it leans rich and rounded for an agricole. The nose runs vanilla, wood, dried fruit and orchard fruit, the palate turns woody with vanilla, tobacco and a fruity lift, and the finish keeps vanilla, wood, tobacco and caramel going. The grassy cane sits gently beneath dominant barrel notes that belie its time in wood, and at 54.7% it delivers power without aggression, a deeply satisfying agricole for experienced palates.
