Savanna sits at the funkier, more experimental end of Reunion rum, and the Creol 52 is its agricole side, distilled from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses. Bottled from a single cask at full strength with no chill to soften it, this is cane character shown unaged and undiluted.

The nose is classic blanc territory, fresh sugarcane and vegetal green with a peppery lift, and the palate keeps that snap with green olive, citrus and herbal notes running savoury rather than sweet. The finish turns fresh and saline with a touch of iodine, the briny edge that marks a serious agricole white. At 52% and unsweetened, it has the strength and grip for Ti' Punch and Daiquiri while still holding up neat for those who enjoy a wild, savoury blanc.
