Velier Uitvlugt UF30E 1985

This is a Velier bottling of Uitvlugt from 1985, carrying 27 years of age under the defining collector name in Demerara. Uitvlugt's column still gives a refined, fruity, clean base, and in Velier's hands, with long tropical ageing at full proof, that character gains immense concentration and depth.

Bottled at 60.7% cask strength, it is a heavy, layered rum that keeps revealing more in the glass. Warm tobacco, peaches and cinnamon open onto molasses, vanilla, coffee, fig and smoke, with oak, licorice and dark berries on a very long finish. The strength carries genuine power, and the rum keeps shifting in the glass rather than offering easy drinking.
