Riviere du Mat Opus 5 is an aged agricole-style rum from Reunion, distilled from fresh-pressed cane juice and bottled by the distillery at an easygoing 43%. It sits in the softer, more accessible part of the island's range, made for relaxed drinking rather than high-proof intensity.

Distilled on a column still and matured in oak, it offers a balanced mix of fruity cane, vanilla, gentle wood and light spice, with caramel, coffee, honey and a touch of cocoa rounding out the finish. The texture is warm and the oak restrained, leaning floral and honeyed with orange-blossom and raisin notes. It makes a comfortable everyday sipper and a fair-value entry into Reunion cane-juice rum, drinking nicely neat at its modest strength.
