Velier Foursquare Plenipotenziario 2007

Plenipotenziario is a Velier and Foursquare bottling that keeps the Barbados house style intense and undiluted. It is a twelve year old single blend of pot and column still rum, distilled at Richard Seale's distillery in St Philip and matured entirely in the tropics in ex-bourbon casks. With no secondary wine finish, it shows the distillery and the bourbon barrel in a direct, unobscured form.

The profile is bourbon-leaning and structural: coconut and vanilla from the American oak, a clear woody spine, and a vein of pineapple and tropical fruit that lifts the whole thing. Full Caribbean ageing concentrates the spirit and deepens the oak in fewer calendar years than a cooler climate would, while the 60% strength gives weight and a long, warm, dry finish. Bottled without added sugar, colour or chill filtration, it suits drinkers who want Foursquare at its driest and most powerful, with a few drops of water to open it up.
