This is Caroni at its most revered, a 21 year old single vintage from the great 1996 batches, bottled by Velier, the house that rescued the closed Trinidad distillery's forgotten casks and turned them into legend. It was aged entirely in the tropics, where intense heat and a heavy angel's share concentrate the spirit over two decades, and bottled at a full 57.18% with nothing added, the Velier template of transparency and full proof.

The heavy Caroni signature is in full force: tar, rubber, leather and tobacco, the archetypal industrial register, set against dark fruit, menthol, woodsmoke and a thread of vanilla sweetness.
