An official Glendronach from the distillery, at 59.8%. Raisin, chocolate and a dark spice fill the glass, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. Its whisky is overseen by the master blender Dr Rachel Barrie. It matures on the Forgue site in traditional dunnage warehouses. This is Glendronach’s deep, fruity Highland style.

Description
A distillery release of Glendronach, at 59.8%. Glendronach is a richly sherried Highland single malt from the Valley of Forgue, built on full bodied spirit and Spanish oak. It joined William Teacher and Sons in 1960 and became a core malt of the Teacher's blend. It passed to Brown Forman, owner of Jack Daniel's, in 2016 as part of a 285 million pound deal.
It was worked unhurried through the stillhouse, shaping a rich Highland body with real weight. It was matured in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks, each wood adding to the dark, dried fruit. With no age statement, vanillin reads as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut over the rich, fruity spirit. The casks are picked closely, the wood matched to the rich Glendronach make. Maturation runs slow and even in the traditional dunnage warehouses on the Forgue site. The wood frames the spirit without ever stripping the full Highland body.
At a hearty 59.8% it carries real weight. A rich orchard sweetness and dark sugar, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. Beneath it run dried fruit, dark sugar and a warm spice. The finish is long, rich and spiced. This is a deep, sherried Highland single malt.
