A Fettercairn of an 11 year old chosen by the bottler Blackadder, distilled in 2006, from cask 107704, bottled at 51.6%, one of 177 bottles. Fettercairn is a Highland single malt from the foot of the Cairngorms in Aberdeenshire, known for its tropical fruit style. Its water comes from springs in the Grampian and Cairngorm mountains above the distillery.

Distilled from unpeated malt in stills cooled by their copper rings, building the tropical Fettercairn style. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, a soft vanilla beneath the tropical fruit. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the fruit, the body softer and fuller. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its pineapple and citrus. In 2018 the distillery relaunched with a new core range under maker Gregg Glass. The cooling rings give a light spirit, so the cask brings depth over the years.

At its natural 51.6% it is concentrated. Pineapple, pear and a creamy vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fruity and tropical, the light spirit shining through. The finish is long, fruity and gently spiced. This is the cooling ring malt of the Mearns.
