Description
This Edradour was bottled by the Paris house La Maison du Whisky, a 10 year old, distilled in 2008, from cask 8, bottled at 57.9%, one of 515 bottles. Edradour is a rich Highland malt from the pocket glen at Balnauld, distilled since 1825. A 2018 expansion added a second still house, the production still small and traditional.
Worked through Oregon pine washbacks and tiny stills for a rich, oily spirit, giving the full bodied, creamy Highland spirit. Finished in an Oloroso cask, the wood building over the oily, full bodied spirit. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the rich, oily spirit growing creamier. Maturation in the dunnage warehouses at Pitlochry is slow and steady. It once supplied blends such as House of Lords and King's Ransom. It is one of the smallest traditional distilleries in Scotland, long run by just two or three hands.
Bottled at a cask strength 57.9%, it is rich. Dried fruit, chocolate and a nutty oil, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A dried fruit and a polished oak give it depth. It finishes long, rich and oily. This is a rich, oily Highland single malt.
