Description
Edradour from the distillery, an 11 year old, from 2008, cask 1, at 56.1%, 308 bottles in all. Edradour is a full bodied, oily Highland malt made on Ben Vrackie water at Pitlochry. The distillery sits in a pocket glen at Balnauld, in the hills above Pitlochry in Perthshire.
It was made in the smallest of stills and condensed in worm tubs, building the creamy Edradour style. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the rich, oily spirit growing creamier. A small distillery and a hands on approach shape every cask by hand. Its water comes from the Ben Vrackie springs in the hills above the distillery. For years its sign read Scotland's smallest distillery; it now calls itself Scotland's little gem. Its tiny copper stills and worm tubs give a rich, oily, full bodied spirit.
At its natural 56.1% it is rich and full bodied. A full, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is rich and oily, the full bodied spirit shining through. The finish runs long, nutty and warming. This is a rich Highland malt from the pocket glen at Pitlochry.
