A 10 year old Edradour from the distillery, at 59%. A rich, oily Highland fruit of dried fruit and almond, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Founded in 1825, it keeps the old ways in its farm buildings. Owned since 2002 by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage. This is a rich, oily Highland single malt.

Description

An official release of Edradour, a 10 year old, from 2008, cask 42, at 59%, 1013 bottles in all. Edradour is a creamy, sherried Highland single malt from one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. A 2018 expansion added a second still house, the production still small and traditional.

The spirit was made in the smallest of stills and condensed in worm tubs, for a full, oily make of dried fruit and chocolate. It was matured in an Oloroso cask, the wood working slowly into the rich malt. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into a rounded vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper apple and dried fruit. The full bodied spirit shows the cask clearly, the sherry and oak to the fore. For years its sign read Scotland's smallest distillery; it now calls itself Scotland's little gem. A rare Morton refrigerator still cools the wort, one of the last in use in Scotland.

At its natural 59% it is rich and full bodied. A rich, nutty sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Beneath it run dried fruit, chocolate and a soft oil. The finish is long, oily and gently spiced. This is a creamy, nutty Highland single malt.
