Edradour Natural Cask Strength – 4th Release 10 Years Old 2003

A 10 year old Edradour, a distillery bottling, from 2003, at 57.4%, 1980 bottles in all. Edradour is a Highland single malt from Perthshire, traditional and tiny, now Scotland's little gem. It once supplied blends such as House of Lords and King's Ransom.

Worked through Oregon pine washbacks and tiny stills for a rich, oily spirit, for a rich, nutty spirit with a waxy depth. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the oily make lead. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the rich, oily spirit growing creamier. The cool Highland air of the glen gives a slow, even maturation in the small Edradour warehouses. A small distillery and a hands on approach shape every cask by hand. Long ageing turns the rich make towards dried fruit, fig and a soft spice. Years in oak round the spirit, the dried fruit and chocolate deepening over the oily core.

At its natural 57.4% it is rich and full bodied. Dried fruit, nut and a soft chocolate, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is rich and oily, the full bodied spirit shining through. It finishes long, rich and oily. This is the little gem of the Highlands at Pitlochry.
