Description
This official Edradour, a 14 year old, from 1993, cask 258, at 60.1%, 638 bottles in all. Edradour is a rich, oily Highland single malt made in the old farm buildings above Pitlochry. A 2018 expansion added a second still house, the production still small and traditional.
It was distilled from unpeated malt in tiny copper stills and worm tubs, for the rich, oily make Edradour is known for. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the oily malt, the body fuller and creamier. Long ageing turns the rich make towards dried fruit, fig and a soft spice. It is one of the smallest traditional distilleries in Scotland, long run by just two or three hands. The full bodied spirit shows the cask clearly, the sherry and oak to the fore. Signatory's wide cask range gives the small distillery an unusual variety of finishes.
Bottled at a cask strength 60.1%, it is rich. Dried fruit, fig and a creamy vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The mouthfeel is thick and oily, the fruit on a creamy body. It finishes long, rich and oily. This is a creamy, nutty Highland single malt.
