Description
The bottler Flickenschild bottled this Dalmunach, an 8 year old, distilled in 2015, from cask 807588, bottled at 64.8%, one of 86 bottles. Dalmunach rose in 2015 where Imperial once stood, a modern Speyside distillery by the Spey. The distillery sits at Carron, in the heart of Speyside on the Spey.
Made in modern copper stills for a clean, fresh make, for a bright, modern Speyside spirit. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the fresh character to the fore. In its extractive youth the cask lends vanillin vanilla and lactone coconut to a bright, clean spirit. Years in oak round the young spirit, the fruit deepening to honey and orchard fruit. Independent bottlers have been quick to release young single casks of this new distillery. Most Dalmunach is laid down for blending, a little finding its way into single cask bottlings. Single malt Dalmunach is scarce, the spirit being a blend component first and foremost.
Bottled at a cask strength 64.8%, it is rich. Orchard fruit, vanilla and a soft spice, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fresh and fruity, the young spirit shining through. A fresh, fruity finish carries a citrus lift. This is a fresh Speyside malt of the new generation.
