Bottled by Berry Bros & Rudd, this Tormore, aged 26 year old from 1992, drawn from cask 101150 and bottled at 48.2%. First built between 1958 and 1960 on the A95 in the heart of Speyside, Tormore is a grand Speyside distillery. Water comes from the Achvochkie Burn, flowing off the granite hills above.

Distilled in swan neck stills fitted with purifiers, on soft Achvochkie Burn water, giving the structured, nutty Speyside spirit. A wine cask shaped it, the fruit meeting the clean, nutty spirit. Beyond twenty years the malt grows deep and waxy, almond, dried fruit and a polished oak over the citrus. Clean, citrussy spirit and a long maturation make for a structured malt. The architect Sir Albert Richardson gave it a grand, ornamental design unlike any other distillery. Its granite buildings, copper roofs and musical clock earned it listed status in 1986.

At its natural 48.2% it is concentrated. The Port cask adds plum and red berry, and the refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with pear, almond and a citrus lift. The texture is light and slightly oily, the nut threaded through. The finish runs light, citrussy and fresh. This is the malt of Speyside's white cathedral.
