An independent Teaninich, released by Bladnoch Forum, a 27 year old Highland malt from 1982, drawn from cask 7698 and bottled at 50.7%. A release of 209 bottles. Teaninich, a large Highland distillery beside the River Averon at Alness, was built in 1817. It stands near Dalmore and Glenmorangie in the Cromarty Firth country.

Mashed through a mash filter for an ultra clear wort and distilled in fat copper stills, giving the fresh, green spirit at its heart. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. Long ageing brings a deeper waxy, fruity character and a mellow oak. Sherry wood suits the light make, lending dried fruit and a nutty depth. The Munro family ran the distillery through two generations before selling. The Cromarty Firth nearby is one of few UK waters home to bottlenose dolphins. A long fermentation of around 75 hours builds the fresh, fruity notes.

At cask strength 50.7% it is muscular yet green. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with citrus, cut grass and a waxy lift. The texture is light and oily, the grass threaded with honey. The finish is waxy, green and lively. This is the green, waxy malt of Alness.
