Strathisla 15 Years Old Finest Highland Malt (G&M)

Bottled by Gordon & MacPhail, this Strathisla matured to 15 year old and bottled at 40%. Strathisla was established in 1786 as the Milltown distillery by the Isla in Keith, Banffshire; it is the home of Chivas Regal. Founded as the Milltown distillery, it took the Strathisla name in the 19th century.

Distilled on soft Isla valley water in traditional pot stills, building the classic Strathisla style. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. By this age the rich spirit rounds into honey, ripe pear and a nutty depth. Sherry wood suits the rich make, lending dried fruit and a nutty depth. Few distilleries can claim an unbroken run of distilling as long as Strathisla's. The Isla valley's soft water and old stills shape a honeyed, fruity spirit. Strathisla is the oldest continuously working distillery in the Scottish Highlands, founded in 1786. The distillery stands among gardens by the rushing River Isla.

At an approachable 40% it is rich and balanced. Orchard fruit and a creamy honey sit alongside honeyed oak sweetness underneath. A baked apple and a warm ginger lift it. Ripe pear and honey draw out the close. This is a rich Speyside malt from the home of Chivas.
