Description
This official Strathisla single malt, aged 14 year old from 2002, drawn from cask 100391,100392,100393 and bottled at 59.8%. 546 bottles in all. Established in 1786 as the Milltown distillery in Keith, on the River Isla in Speyside, Strathisla is the oldest working distillery in the Highlands. It is the oldest continuously operating distillery in the Scottish Highlands.
It was worked through short pot stills for a rich, fruity make, for the rich, fruity Speyside make Strathisla is known for. Ex-Bourbon casks held the spirit, soft oak that lets the fruit lead. Younger here, it keeps a creamy, orchard fruit freshness over light honey. Years in oak round the spirit, the honey and dried fruit deepening with age. The Isla valley's soft water and old stills shape a honeyed, fruity spirit. Strathisla is the oldest continuously working distillery in the Scottish Highlands, founded in 1786. The distillery stands among gardens by the rushing River Isla.
Bottled at a cask strength 59.8%, it is concentrated. A rich, fruity sweetness meet a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. Beneath it run honey, pear and a soft spice. It finishes clean, fruity and rich. This is the fruity Speyside heart of Chivas Regal.
