Description
An official Strathisla single malt, aged 15 year old from 1989, drawn from cask Batch SI 15 003 and bottled at 53.7%. First licensed in 1786 in the Speyside town of Keith, Strathisla is the oldest working distillery in the Highlands. Water comes from the Broomhill Spring, the distillery set on the River Isla at Keith.
Distilled in short copper pot stills on Broomhill Spring water, giving the honeyed, full bodied spirit at its heart. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, with vanilla under the orchard fruit. Around two decades the malt gains a fuller honey and a dried fruit weight. A patient maturation suits the rich, fruity Strathisla character. The Isla valley's soft water and old stills shape a honeyed, fruity spirit. Strathisla is the oldest continuously working distillery in the Scottish Highlands, founded in 1786. The distillery stands among gardens by the rushing River Isla.
At its natural 53.7% it is rich and fruity. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla runs under a honeyed, creamy fruitiness. A dried fruit and a gentle oak spice give it depth. The finish runs rich, nutty and warm. This is a fruity, full bodied Speysider from Keith.
