This Speyside Distillery single malt, an official release matured to 14 year old from 2010 and bottled at 46%. The outturn was 370 bottles. The Speyside Distillery, hand built near Kingussie and first run in 1990 near Kingussie in the upper Spey valley, is the source of the SPEY malts. The SPEY range and the dark Beinn Dubh are bottled by Harvey's of Edinburgh.

It was worked slowly through short stills to keep the spirit light, for the light, fruity Speyside make the distillery is known for. A sherry butt held it, the wood lending raisin and walnut. By this age the light spirit rounds into heather honey and orchard fruit. Maturation in the Highland air gives a clean, unhurried development. A stonemason, Alex Fairlie, laid every stone of the distillery by hand over some twenty years. Its two pot stills are among the smallest in Scotland, the whole works under one roof.

At 46% it is supple and honeyed. The Oloroso brings dried fruit, fig and a nutty depth, and fragrant honey and ripe fruit meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Soft orchard fruit and vanilla sit behind the sweetness. A fruity, gently spiced finish lingers. This is a gentle, honeyed Speyside malt.
