This official Speyburn single malt matured to 16 year old from 2002 and bottled at 43%. Speyburn was established in 1897 in a sheltered Speyside glen by the Granty Burn; it remains one of Speyside's prettiest distilleries. Charles Doig, inventor of the distillery pagoda, designed it, and his ventilator still tops the stillhouse.

Distilled on Granty Burn water through onion stills with worm tubs, building the classic Speyside style it is loved for. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. Around twelve to sixteen years the malt gains a fuller honey over the fruit. The worm tub weight carries cask flavour while keeping the Speyside finesse. Speyburn sits in a wooded glen on the edge of Rothes, one of Speyside's prettiest distilleries. Charles Doig, who designed it, invented the pagoda roof now seen across Scotch distilleries. It was the first Scottish distillery fitted with drum maltings, still preserved on site.

At 43% it is smooth and fruity. A fresh, fruity sweetness meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Beneath it run apple, honey and a soft spice. Apple, honey and oak draw out the close. This is a classic, fruity Speyside single malt.
