This is a Royal Brackla single malt, chosen and bottled by Edition Spirits, a 15 year old Highland malt from 2007, drawn from cask HL 19733 and bottled at 56.6%. The outturn was 162 bottles. Royal Brackla was established in 1812 in Nairnshire, by Cawdor Castle; it was crowned the first Royal distillery by William IV in 1833. Long a backbone of the Dewar's blends, it is now bottled as a single malt in its own right.

Drawn off copper stills with horizontal shell and tube condensers, building the elegant Highland style it is loved for. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the fruit. Mid age brings a fuller honey and a deeper dried fruit note. The light, elegant spirit shows cask character clearly even after years in oak. For generations the malt was a backbone of the Dewar's blends before its single malt revival. It is one of only three distilleries permitted to carry the Royal name in Scotch.

At its natural 56.6% it is concentrated. Honeyed fruit and oak spice meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Soft orchard fruit and honey sit behind the sweetness. Orchard fruit and honey draw out the close. This is the regal Highland malt of Cawdor.
