Description
This official Royal Brackla single malt, a 21 year old Highland malt and bottled at 40%. Royal Brackla, first built in 1812 near Nairn, on the Cawdor Estate, is the first Royal distillery in Scotch. Long a backbone of the Dewar's blends, it is now bottled as a single malt in its own right.
The spirit was run through lamp glass spirit stills for a clean, fruity spirit, to build a fragrant, orchard fruit character. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light honeyed sweetness. At this age it is polished and full, the fruit folded into a rich, spiced body. A long fermentation of up to 110 hours builds the fruity esters at the heart of the spirit. The Cawdor Estate has grown barley and made spirit for two centuries. A long, cool maturation rounds the fruit into honey and dried fruit. Brackla earned the prefix Royal long before most distilleries had a brand at all. The malt is prized by blenders for its fragrant, fruity lift.
Bottled at 40%, it is rounded. Honeyed fruit and oak spice meet soft vanilla and honey from the cask. Soft orchard fruit and honey sit behind the sweetness. A fruity, gently spiced finish lingers long. This is the regal Highland malt of Cawdor.
