van Wees is a Dutch independent behind the long-running Ultimate range. A 15 year old Laphroaig, from cask 700355, this was distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2014., from The Ultimate range.

Held in Oloroso for fifteen years, the cask steeps the deep south-shore peat in dried fruit.

Bottled at 46%, the Oloroso adds raisin, fig and a walnut dryness. It carries a coal-gas edge, a medicinal edge, smoke.
