Williamson 2009 (MoM)

Master of Malt, the online retailer, bottles its own single casks and small batches. This bottling is a 7 year old Williamson, laid down in 2009 and drawn off in 2017. Williamson is teaspooned Laphroaig: a Laphroaig cask given a token spoonful of another malt, which bars the distillery name and makes it a blended malt. The name honours Bessie Williamson, Laphroaig's owner from 1954 and the first woman to run a Scotch distillery.

From ex-Bourbon, 7 years draw out the medicinal Islay spirit.

At its natural 47.8%, vanilla from years in the bourbon barrel. On the palate, dried fruit, a medicinal edge, an oily texture, a rubbery note, a sherried character, smoke.
