Description
The Douglas of Drumlanrig cask reference numbering provides chronological documentary trail across the brand's history. The LD 4826 reference is significantly earlier than the LD 9902 of the sister 15 Year Old release, placing this bottling in the original Douglas Laing era before the 2013 de merger. Spirit from Arran's 1996 vintage matured for twelve years was bottled within this earlier period of the brand's operation.
Spirit was distilled at Lochranza in 1996 and matured twelve years in single cask LD 4826 before bottling. The cask wood type is consistent with the historical Douglas of Drumlanrig template, typically a refill American oak hogshead. Bottled without chill filtration and without added colour.
Twelve years of Bourbon cask maturation produces a measured profile where the Arran spirit signature remains forward and the cask sits as a supporting layer. The 1996 vintage captures the distillery in its second full production year, sitting alongside other early Arran releases from the same period in the documentary record of Lochranza house style. The 12 year maturation point falls in the early to mid integration phase of typical Bourbon cask single malt development.
